Endorsement: Jimenez will bring

needed viewpoint to HMB City Hall

"After careful consideration, we think you should vote for Jimenez for the seat in District 3. ... Jimenez is among our community’s most tireless advocates for working families. You see him delivering personal protective equipment to farmworkers, handing out food at open pantries, standing with protesters who demand a more just society. Current protests aren’t academic concerns for him. ... Jimenez will bring a fresh perspective to City Hall.

Joaquin's Priorities

As your City Council member, I will work to engage all the voices of our community to generate, together, innovative ideas that strengthen the economy for the benefit of all, create sustainable environmental solutions that both preserve our heritage and help us adapt to climate change, and provide a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy a good quality of life and make Half Moon Bay a great place to live.

My top 3 priorities in office will be to:

  1. Build affordable housing for our community, in a sustainable way

  2. Create a safe, welcoming environment for our community

  3. Build a strong economy by promoting sustainable local businesses

About Joaquin

I have lived in Half Moon Bay for 33 years and have been active in the community for over 20 years. I am bilingual in Spanish and English. I have a degree in Sociology from CSU Chico, and came back to Half Moon Bay after college in order to serve the community I grew up in. I have worked in various capacities throughout the county of San Mateo, and I am a founding member of the Latino Advisory Council of Half Moon Bay. My involvement with the community includes, but is not limited to, being a 5th Grade teacher in the Immersion Program at Hatch School for the Cabrillo Unified School District and then a Juvenile Correctional Officer for the County of San Mateo in the Juvenile Probation Department, and working with nonprofit organizations such as Puente de la Costa Sur and Ayudando Latinos a Soñar (ALAS). I’m currently an ALAS Liaison and Community Outreach Coordinator for farmworkers and their families. Having dedicated my career to serving the HMB community I was honored to be awarded Role Model of the Year 2019 by the Half Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce.
