Half Moon Bay City Council

The City Council meets twice per month on Tuesday evenings at 7pm, and meetings include a public comment period. All are welcome to attend, and hear about the progress the City is making and follow the Council as we deliberate. During the pandemic, meetings are online by Zoom and Facebook Live.

See the City Council website for meeting dates, agendas and how to join the calls. You can also follow the City Council on Facebook for updates.

Please email me with your concerns, ideas and support at jjimenez@hmbcity.com

and see my Facebook page for updates on my work as your Councilmember.

Priorities

As your City Council member, I am working to engage all the voices of our community to generate, together, innovative ideas that strengthen the economy for the benefit of all, create sustainable environmental solutions that both preserve our heritage and help us adapt to climate change, and provide a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy a good quality of life and make Half Moon Bay a great place to live.

My top 3 priorities in office are to:

  1. Build affordable housing for our community, in a sustainable way

  2. Create a safe, welcoming environment for our community

  3. Build a strong economy by promoting sustainable local businesses

The Jimenez-Rarback Report

on Policing and Public Safety in Half Moon Bay

My fellow Councilmember Harvey Rarback and I are proud to present this policy paper, which is intended to engage the public of Half Moon Bay with the aim of creating needed and critical policy changes in policing and public safety.

Thank you for taking the time to read this report, and please share it, and your opinions at upcoming City Council meetings. Public participation is the fuel that runs our local government, and without it we will not succeed in our desire to reimagine public safety and policing in Half Moon Bay.

Download the report here.

See the News & Media Page for press coverage of this proposal.

About Me

I have lived in Half Moon Bay for 33 years and have been active in the community for over 20 years. I am bilingual in Spanish and English. I have a degree in Sociology from CSU Chico, and came back to Half Moon Bay after college in order to serve the community I grew up in. I have worked in various capacities throughout the county of San Mateo, and I am a founding member of the Latino Advisory Council of Half Moon Bay. My involvement with the community includes, but is not limited to, being a 5th Grade teacher in the Immersion Program at Hatch School for the Cabrillo Unified School District and then a Juvenile Correctional Officer for the County of San Mateo in the Juvenile Probation Department, and working with nonprofit organizations such as Puente de la Costa Sur and Ayudando Latinos a Soñar (ALAS). I’m currently an ALAS Liaison and Community Outreach Coordinator for farmworkers and their families. Having dedicated my career to serving the HMB community I was honored to be awarded Role Model of the Year 2019 by the Half Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce. I was elected to the Half Moon Bay City Council in November 2020.
